Kick-off to Election 2009
Deer Park Neighbors was at the Village Hall Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, shortly before nine. Already waiting in the parking lot were candidates Bob Kellermann (sitting trustee now running for President), along with Keith Olson and John Lair, both of Rue Vallee. Keith is newer in the village, while John has been a resident for decades, as well as a former public official, both elected trustee and appointed to commissions. He brings a great deal of technical knowledge and historic background to this campaign.
PICTURED BELOW (click to enlarge) are John Lahr, Keith Olson, Lucy Holt and behind them, Bob Kellermann.
President Gifford had arrived shortly before Village Clerk Susan opened the hall at precisely 9AM. All those who were at the door are considered to have arrived simultaneously, for the purpose of being listed on the ballot. They--and anyone whose packet of petition materials arrives in Monday's mail--will have their names entered into a lottery to determine their order on the printed ballot in May.
We were able to deliver by hand our email invitation to a Presidential Forum. Gifford denied ever having seen our original email, so now the wheels should be turning. It was too cold to chat much, but we will, in the next few days, obtain contact information for all candidates and post those for you. We also will be planning a few election events. We’ll also ask for (or take) photos, so that you will recognize all the candidates when you see them out and about.
Read a copy of our invitation, then think about the questions you would like to have asked at this event. We also welcome your suggestions for Moderator for the Presidental Forum.
